What are good things to aim for like that in civ 6? It feels like there are so many more options in the early game and I think I often play inefficiently by just not focusing on the right thing. Most of my civ career has been civ 5 where I knew early game to go for 4 cities, national college by t100, etc. Now I know I neglect my military too much, my question is what kind of numbers / tech timings should I aim for with an aggressive neighbor on emperor?ĮDIT: Thinking about it I would like to expand the question. My own city state was further up the map and its units only got there after the capital was taken. It should be noted whilst the knights were a pain in the ass, a lot of the military came from his allied city state.

I ended up losing my capital and most of my military, from there it was not really worth carrying on. Suddenly goddamn knights come pouring out of the fog and again that cackling dumpling is back on the screen. I have made sure to have a bit of a military, mostly archers. Other than that I have 3 cities + capital and have focused on basic infrastructure. I was going for culture victory with focus on religion so I have spent resources building a holy site + shrine to make sure I get one. I fend him off.įast forward to turn 90 (ish). Sure enough the dude pops up a few turns later declaring war.

Well early on I see more warriors and slingers than I would expect so a build a few slingers. Neighbor was china (not a civ I thought likely to be too aggressive). I focus on getting up a good basis for a civilization early on (founding good cities, etc.) but if a civ decides they want to carpet swarm me with military I have pretty much lost.

So I am a long time civ player but my biggest weakness has always been military.
